About Us
Since its opening in 1974, Lynnhaven Middle School has served its community with great distinction in both academic and extracurricular successes. Lynnhaven currently serves some 1,200 students in grades six through eight. It employs a school-within-a-school concept, interdisciplinary teaming, and an extensive range of exploratory courses to compliment core area instruction in English, math, science and social studies. Programs focusing on seventh and eighth grade block scheduling and emotional intelligence were also implemented in 1999, while our intervention reading program continues. LMS receives students from several feeder elementary schools including Alanton, Birdneck, King's Grant, Kingston, Linkhorn Park, Seatack, and Trantwood. Upon completion of their studies here in grade eight, our students attend First Colonial and Cox High Schools or one of the many magnet programs offered by various high schools in Virginia Beach. Our 140,000 square foot physical plant sits on a twenty-five acre site just off Old Donation Parkway in close proximity to Virginia Beach General Hospital.
